A recent report from one of the big banks confirmed what house-hunters already know: It’s become even more expensive in recent months to put a roof over your head. And that obviously changes the equation if you’re thinking about buying a roof to put over someone else’s head as an investment.

New forecasts due later in April will likely give Canadians a further hint as to how just how much momentum interest rates are likely to have in the months ahead. Higher-than-expected inflation earlier this year has led to speculation that the Bank of Canada will begin to hike rates as early as June, although probably in small increments.
